Beach Volleyball has made its way to Austin in a big way! Five Time US Open Champion, World Champion, King of the Beach Champion and the 10th Ranked Player in the history of the Association of Volleyball Professional Tour (AVP), Adam Johnson brings his life long experience and talent to the sand courts of Aussie’s Volleybar & Grill in Austin. He will be conducting beach clinics for middle and high school girls.
Adam, along with many other Top Professionals, believes playing beach volleyball has a tremendous impact on a player’s indoor game. “When I was finished with my indoor career (NCAA Division One - USC, the USA National Team and Professional Volleyball in Italy), I began my career on the AVP TOUR (www.avp.com). At the end of my first beach season, I again played in a professional indoor league and was amazed to see how the level of my indoor game had improved. I was moving quicker, my body was stronger, my ball control had improved and I could navigate the court much easier”.
Beach Volleyball is an entirely different game from indoor. That’s what’s great about the sport. It gives the girls a new and refreshed way to train so they don’t feel like they’re playing indoor volleyball year round (please see the “Professionals Quotes” button on the home page of www.ajvc.net). The benefits form this cross training are unmatched.
The clinics will be open to all players and they will be grouped according to their skill level. Adam, along with other Austin area coaches, will touch upon skills (passing, setting, serving, hitting and defense), footwork and strategies of the game in a very upbeat and productive environment.
Clinic dates and times for Summer “08”:
June 9th-12th: Middle School girls.
June 16th-18thth & 23rd-25th: High school girls.
July 14th-17th: High school girls.
July 21st-24th: Middle school girls.
July 28th-31st: High school girls.
August 4th-7th: Middle school girls.
August 11th-14th: Middle School girls.
ALL CLINIC TIMES ARE FROM 10-12:30pm @ Aussie's Volleybar and Grill.
*The cost for the 4 day clinics will be $175 and the 6 day will be $255.
*This will include lunch each day at Aussie’s and a Adam Johnson Clinic
T-shirt.
*Space is limited (20-24 total for each clinic). Private lessons are available
as well.
